Creator
Taz was first created by Robert McKimson a american animator, illostrator, and director. He was best known for his work at Warner Bros after he created The Tamanian Devil. Mckimson contiued to work on at the studieo even as it was loosing its popularity. After the studieo closed down McKimson went to DePatie-Freleng enterprises co-owned by is former asocit Friz Freleng and David H DePatie. But is legacy at Warner Bors lived on as his cartoons were still gaining poularity.
Robert McKimson based the character Taz on the real-life mammal called the Tasmanian Devil of Austrialia. The resembalance of the mammal and McKemson's creation show most noticeabley through there ravenous appetites and crazed behavior. Spinning around like a tornado that sounds like a bunch of car motors, the devil will davour anything rather it be animate or inanamate. In Taz's efforts to find more food he always comes up with a devous plot, which serve as the central plot of the cartoon and his actions.
This idea of a ravenous appetite first serves as the impetus for McKimson's "Devil May Hare" . In this Short, Taz stalks Bug's Bunny in order to try to get a quick meal. of course his plans fail, so his short temper and his rage start to show. This idea of basing the charcter off of the mammal realy seemed to work all the way up to the closeing of the studio. The media and public enjoyed the charcter, which whould later help when the cartoon Taz got a large audience after he reamerged in the late 80's.
